Biographical Summary of Report Writers

Mike Miller has a PhD (Biology) from the University of Victoria, where his research focused on the population dynamics of lilies. He has written COSEWIC status reports and helped develop national recovery strategies for several plant species at risk. He has also participated in numerous rare plant surveys on behalf of the B.C. Conservation Data Centre. He currently volunteers on the plant RIG (Recovery Implementation Group) for the Garry Oak Ecosystem Recovery Team (GOERT).

Brenda Costanzo has an M.Sc. (Biology) from the University of Victoria. She was the Assistant Curator of the Herbarium at the University of Victoria from 1989 until 2001. Brenda has done extensive fieldwork in botanyand recently worked on preparing fact sheets for "Plants at Risk in Garry Oak and Associated Ecosystems" for the Garry oak Ecosystem Recovery Team (GOERT). She is the past Chair of the Plants at Risk Recovery Action Group under GOERT. Currently, she is Plants at Risk Biologist at the B.C. Ministry of Environment.

Hans Roemer received his M.Sc. from the Technical University of Hannover, Germany, in 1967 and his PhD from the University of Victoria in 1972. He held a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of British Columbia and worked as an environmental consultant in British Columbia and Germany until 1977. From 1978 to 2002 he held positions as plant ecologist in the Ecological Reserve and Provincial Park Programs with the Government of British Columbia. Following retirement from the public service in 2002, he has worked as an independent consultant in conservation assessments, plant ecology and field botany. He has prepared numerous reports on the rare flora of southwestern British Columbia.
