Recovery Strategy for Blunt–lobed Woodsia (Woodsia obtusa) in Canada

The Blunt-lobed Woodsia was listed on Schedule 1 of the Species at Risk Act (SARA) as Endangered in 2006 and then Threatened in 2009. The Minister of the Environment is the competent minister for the recovery of Blunt-lobed Woodsia and has prepared this strategy, as per section 37 of SARA. It has been prepared in cooperation with the Ontario Minister of Natural Resources and the Ministère du Développement durable, de l’Environnement et des Parcs.

This Recovery Strategy for the Blunt-lobed Woodsia (Woodsia obtusa) in Canada is dedicated to Matthew Wild. Matthew studied this fern during his graduate studies and completed a thesis on it. This early work on Blunt-lobed Woodsia enabled him to play a key role in the preparation and completion of this document. The cover illustration is Matthew’s. Matthew was a dedicated conservationist and committed to his work on the recovery of species at risk. He was a valued member of the Canadian Wildlife Service team and is missed.
