Action Plan for the Piping Plover (Charadrius melodus circumcinctus) in Ontario

The Species at Risk Act (SARA, Section 47) requires the competent minister to prepare action plans, based on the recovery strategy, for listed extirpated, endangered, or threatened species. The Piping Plover circumcinctus subspecies was listed as endangered under SARA in June 2003 and the recovery strategy was finalized in October 2006. An addendum to the recovery strategy was posted in 2007. Environment Canada led the development of the action plan in partnership with the Parks Canada Agency.

This is one of four action plans for the Piping Plover, circumcinctus subspecies. A separate action is being prepared for each province in which the Piping Plover, circumcinctus subspecies occurs. This action plan pertains only to the province of Ontario.

This action plan was prepared in cooperation with the Province of Ontario.
