Forked three-awned grass in Georgian Bay Islands National Park: critical habitat description

Forked Three-awned Grass (Aristida basiramea) is listed on Schedule 1 to the Species at Risk Act as endangered. Forked Three-awned Grass is a slender, wiry plant that grows 30 to 60 cm in height and has very narrow leaves. It is an annual grass found in dry, open sand barrens in Ontario and Quebec, as well as in weedy habitats associated with these sites, such as roadside ditches and old fields. The Action Plan for the Forked Three-awned Grass (Aristida basiramea) in Ontario identifies critical habitat for the species in a number of areas, including one national park.

Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to subsection 58(2) of the Species at Risk Act, 90 days after the date of publication of this notice, subsection 58(1) of the Act will apply to the critical habitat of the Forked Three-awned Grass -- identified in the action plan for that species that is included in the Species at Risk Public Registry -- that is located within Georgian Bay Islands National Park of Canada, the boundaries of which are described in Schedule 1 to the Canada National Parks Act.
