Sommaire biographique des rédacteurs du rapport

Anne Gunn (B.A., Ph. D., consultante indépendante, Salt Spring Island, Colombie-Britannique). Mme Gunn a plus de trente ans d’expérience dans l’étude sur le terrain, la gestion et la recherche sur le caribou dans le nord du Canada. Elle a également contribué à l’évaluation du statut et à la planification du rétablissement du caribou, et a une expérience considérable sur le terrain avec le caribou de la toundra.

Kim Poole (M. Sc., R.P.Bio., Aurora Wildlife Research, Nelson, Colombie-Britannique). M. Poole possède trente ans d’expérience en recherche et en gestion des espèces sauvages dans le nord et l’ouest du Canada, dont la moitié a été passée à Yellowknife, au sein du gouvernement territorial. Il a une expérience considérable avec le caribou en Colombie-Britannique et dans les Territoires du Nord-Ouest/Nunavut. Il a travaillé sur l’évaluation des impacts, la modélisation des déplacements et de la répartition, la conception et la mise en œuvre de relevés, la réalisation de relevés et l’étude de l’habitat.

Don Russell (M. Sc.). M. Russell est chercheur spécialisé sur le caribou depuis le début de sa carrière, il y a plus de trente ans. Il a passé dix ans au sein du Conseil de gestion de la harde de caribous de la Porcupine, cinq ans au sein du Comité consultatif de la gestion de la faune (versant nord), et il a agi six ans à titre de coprésident canadien du Comité international du caribou de la Porcupine. Son travail de recherche met l’accent sur la compréhension des facteurs qui déterminent l’écologie du caribou et la taille des populations, et la façon dont ces facteurs pourraient être touchés par les changements climatiques et le développement. Depuis qu’il a quitté le gouvernement en 2006, M. Russell coordonne le Réseau circumpolaire de surveillance et d’évaluation du caribou (CARMA), conscient de l’importance de l’échange coopératif et de la collaboration multidisciplinaire.
